Clipping of Rt. Ophthalmic artery aneurysm

Clip1:

Following a pterional craniotomy, the sphenoidal ridge and the anterior clinoid are drilled away, extradurally.

Take care of the optic nerve while drilling; for the inexperienced, intradural drilling may be a safer option.

 

 

 

Clip2:

The dura is opened.

Archnoid dissection exposes the internal carotid; the dissection continues to the cavernous sinus. the aneurysm is coming into view.

 

 

 

Clip3:

The aneurysm is visualized. The the neck of the medially projecting aneurysm is cleared off archnoid; the neck is clipped.
