Excision of left parietal AVM

Clip1:

Through a Lt.parietal craniotomy, the AVM is exposed. The main arterial feeders are dissected to the arterialized veins and occluded with temporary clips following which the large draining vein darkens and becomes less tense. I prefer to use aneurysm clip

 

 

 

Clip2:

The AVM is dissected all around and additional feeders are secured. Simultaneously, the AVM is shrunk using bipolar diathermy.

 

 

 

Clip3:

Further dissection and  the shrunken nidus is excised; the large draining vein is the last to be occluded.
