Clip1:
The patient is positioned supine with the head turned to the left; through a retromastoid incision, the triangle at the base of skull, behind the trigeminal nerve, is drilled to facilitate more room and less brain retraction. |

The dura is opened and the CSF is drained; the petrosal sinus is exposed, coagulated and cut. |
